Personal service, wherever you need it
I’m Matthew, the Notary Public behind Pasadena Notary. I built this mobile service around a simple idea: an important signing should feel organized, respectful, and easy to understand from the first message to the final signature.
I meet clients at homes, workplaces, hospitals, senior communities, and other convenient locations. Whether an appointment is planned in advance or time-sensitive, you can expect clear communication, careful attention to the notarial certificate, and a calm, professional experience.
“Local knowledge. Patient service. Details handled with care.”

California notary standards
This guide follows the current California Secretary of State standards. It is general information—not legal advice or a substitute for instructions from your document’s receiving agency.
Common requests include powers of attorney, trusts and estate documents prepared by your attorney, advance health care directives, affidavits and sworn statements, consent and permission forms, business agreements, personal statements, and other documents that contain a signature requiring an acknowledgment or jurat. The document—not the notary—must tell you which notarial act is required.
Bring the complete document, all pages and attachments, every required signer, and satisfactory identification. The document should be filled out except for signatures that must be made in the notary’s presence. Confirm any separate witness requirement before the appointment.
Common options include a California driver license or identification card and a U.S. passport or passport card, provided the ID is current or was issued within the last five years. Certain other qualifying IDs may be accepted if they meet California requirements, including an out-of-state ID or driver license, qualifying foreign passport or consular ID, Canadian or Mexican driver license, qualifying U.S. military ID, California government employee ID, federally recognized tribal ID, and specified inmate identification.
California law permits limited credible-witness procedures. Depending on the circumstances, one credible witness personally known to the notary or two credible witnesses not personally known to the notary may establish identity. The witnesses must satisfy statutory conditions, present qualifying identification, take an oath or affirmation, and have no financial interest in or be named in the document. Contact us before booking.
For an acknowledgment, the signer personally appears, is identified, and acknowledges having executed the document; the document may have been signed earlier. For a jurat, the signer personally appears, takes an oath or affirmation, and signs in the notary’s presence. A notary who is not an attorney cannot choose the act for you.
Yes. Under current California law, the signer must personally appear before the notary for an acknowledgment or jurat. A video call or emailed copy of identification does not replace physical appearance.
No. California notaries cannot certify copies of vital records. Certified copies of birth, fetal death, death, and marriage records must come from the appropriate state or local registrar. California notaries may certify a copy of a power of attorney when statutory requirements are met.
No. Pasadena Notary is not a law firm and cannot select documents, prepare legal documents, advise whether a document is legally sufficient, explain legal consequences, or choose the notarial act. Ask the document’s receiving agency or a qualified attorney when you need that guidance.
The signer must be willing, aware of the transaction, and able to communicate directly with the notary. Please confirm facility access, visiting rules, the signer’s identification, witness availability, and any medical or scheduling limitations before the visit.
No. A California notary verifies the signer’s identity and completes the requested notarial act. The notary does not certify the truthfulness, accuracy, legality, or validity of the document itself.

Important service policies
These notices explain the boundaries of California notarial service. Nothing on this website replaces California law, the instructions of the receiving agency, or advice from a licensed attorney.
A notarization will be declined or paused when the signer does not personally appear; identity cannot be established; the document is incomplete on its face; the signer appears unwilling, unaware, coerced, or unable to communicate directly with the notary; the requested certificate is missing or unclear; or the act would violate California law.
The customer is responsible for providing the complete document, choosing the notarial act through the document’s instructions or receiving agency, arranging any required witnesses, presenting qualifying identification, and confirming that the document will be accepted by its intended recipient.
The complete quoted price—including notarial, mobile, priority, parking, waiting, witness, or extended-distance charges—is disclosed before confirmation. An appointment is not confirmed until Pasadena Notary accepts it. Arrival windows may be affected by traffic, facility access, emergencies, or circumstances outside reasonable control.
Do not email Social Security numbers, account numbers, medical records, identification images, or complete legal documents unless specifically requested through an approved secure method. Ordinary appointment email should contain only the document type, city, signer count, and scheduling details.
Notarization verifies identity and the notarial act; it does not prove that a document is truthful, accurate, enforceable, correctly prepared, or acceptable to a court, recorder, financial institution, government agency, or other recipient.
Current California law requires physical personal appearance for acknowledgments and jurats. Pasadena Notary does not offer remote online notarization. Electronic documents may be handled only when every requirement for a lawful California notarial act can be satisfied in person.
Pasadena Notary does not advertise as an attorney, immigration specialist, or immigration consultant and does not use prohibited Spanish translations of “notary public.” Before adding advertising in any language other than English, the legally prescribed bilingual notice and statutory-fee disclosure must be included.
I am not an attorney and, therefore, cannot give legal advice about immigration or any other legal matters. Pasadena Notary does not select, draft, or prepare legal documents; determine which notarial act you need; represent anyone in a legal matter; or provide immigration-consultant services.
Website policies provide notice but cannot eliminate every legal risk. Final language should be reviewed by a qualified California attorney and your notary errors-and-omissions insurance provider before publication.

Pasadena Notary is not a law firm. A California notary public is not an attorney and cannot choose documents, explain their legal effect, prepare legal documents, or provide legal advice. Please consult a qualified attorney for legal questions. Notarization verifies identity and the notarial act—not the truthfulness, accuracy, or validity of the underlying document.
